Mmmmm breakfast.

Egg white omelet with peppers, onion and pepper jack cheese. Lots of veggies on this plate. Lots of butter too.

BuzzKill McGee

Heyyyo.

For those of you still out there - tuning in once a day - wondering where I’ve gone off to -

This is a small note for you.

My temporary, unannounced hiatus was a conglomeration of being slammed at work, with soccer, and in life. The constant messiness and craziness of being alive diverted my attention from creating regular content.

I opted to take some time off. An unannounced summer vaca. During the first portion of my experience, I didn’t miss blogging. Then, I began to wonder if I missed it. I can tell you now that I officially miss it.

And while I DO miss posting up here on a regular basis, I’ve also arrived at a bit of a career crossroads, if you will, as a blogger. The dealio is that I love to write and love to create. Pretty things are fun, and I love to share.

So whether it’s fashion, design, cooking or baking - I cling to pretty creations whenever, however possible. What I’ve experienced lately is a shift in my life that doesn’t really lend itself to a steady stream of blogging….and most definitely not just fashion-related content, which of course was the original core of this site.

As I continue to evolve my online identity (which obviously correlates to my growth IRL), I’m not convinced that stylefyles.tumblr.com is the correct platform to continue with.

Still, this isn’t a goodbye note…..yet.

What can you expect in the near future?

I’ll be here. Blogging in the same space, as usual. Hopefully, in the next couple months, I’ll be able to make a decision regarding the specifics of how I’d like to continue. If I travel to a new domain, I hope you all will come along.

For the record, I continue to blog because I’m drawn to it - but you all are what make me want to be better. So thanks for your support, your emails and your comments. Thanks for continuing to stick around. And since you’ve dug through the length of this somewhat moody post, I feel it’s my duty to now share what my haphazard blogging has failed to reveal: Legit shots of the new pixie haircut (first there was one, and then another).

Without further ado, please enjoy Pixie #1 (the first) and Pixie #2 (the second/current).

Enjoy!!!

Three Okay Years Plus 27 Awesome Years

It’s been nearly a month since Santa Fe and here I am, still posting photos from the trip. These pictures were taken on August 15th, which is the date of my parents anniversary. They were married thirty years ago in 1981. Three or four months later they learned my older sister was on the way. My sisters and I were all born in a three month span between Oct 1982 and Oct 1985. If you didn’t already know my age, I bet you can guess by the title of this post. On this day, we hiked for a bit and on the way down the mountain we pulled off at this overlook for some photos. I wore green shorts underneath this Forever 21 dress, which I wore as if it were a long T shirt.  Underneath my clothes, I wore a swimsuit with a removable neck strap so I could wear the strap for support while hiking but remove it when lounging.

Back Lit

These are probably the fanciest sunglasses I’ve ever worn, and yet, they don’t look right on me (in my opinion). I stole my sister’s Jimmy Choo’s for the photo sesh since the sun was making me all squinty. I imagined the designer shades would look soooo cool once on, but really, I prefer my standard $5 pairs better. And then it’s less annoying when they go missing, which inevitably happens with mine. This simple dress and sandals combo was the perfect outfit for a late brunch, shopping and dinner with the fam on our Santa Fe vacation.

worn: Santa Fe, day 2
sandals: gift, from Costa Rica
dress: Forever 21
shades: Jimmy Choo, borrowed from the sis

Quick Share: New Hair

Pretty Peeps! I’ve been super busy as of recent I know you know how it goes! This post won’t use periods or either of the two characters that reside between “k” and quotation marks on the keyboard, as I managed to drop theraf_u on top of my keyboard (and on my arm) today at work! <—— emphasis! due to punctuation restraints!

I wanted to do a quick share of my recent haircut! I hacked it off this Sunday (or rather, my hairdresser did!) The previous cut was growing out and the excessive hair on the back of my neck and down the sides of my face was bothering me! Since it was too short for a hairband, I decided to shorten my hair! I asked the hairdresser to cut it short-short-short, and didn’t give any further instructions! These bangs were the product of her imagination - though I must say they are bangs I’ve dreamed of having but have never been brave enough to ask for! My boyfriend hates bangs, but I knew that going into it! Too bad for him! My friends say the cut mirrors Ms Andrews’ from The Sound of Music! I adore my new cut - and it’s perfect for soccer too! See underneath this text for how I wear my pixie during a soccer match (we won our 7v7 matchup 13-1 on the night previous, no biggie)!

kk, pretty peeps! Off to find the IT guy
