Pumpkin Party

Over the weekend we celebrated the upcoming holiday by attending a co-workers pumpkin carving party. The boyf. and I carved a pumpkin together, which means I did all the work while he made fun of me. This was my first time using an electric cutter, and I have to say….it was a disaster! I’ll definitely be having a do-over, on my own turf, with my own weapon of choice. I have to say, my favorite part of the party had to be the pumpkin seeds (big surprise!).

I wore a thrifted T (from Heavenly Boutique in Orange, CA) and my new ’80s style shades from Thank You Mart thrift in Westwood. I also wore shorts and sandals….I coached a soccer game before the pumpkin carving party, so my attire needed to be hot weather appropriate.

The seeds were fried in butter and salt…no better way to make ‘em, in my opinion (though I’ve definitely made healthier versions before).

This was hands down my favorite pumpkin, carved from a print-out.

I thought these two were pretty fantastic as well, both free-hand.

Also, we saw Paranormal Activity last night. Not as scary as the hype made it out to be. Put it this way. I am the same girl who, less than two weeks ago, smacked her boyfriend out of fright while watching Misery, but as I walked out of Paranormal, I may have just left Carebears: The Cuddle Edition. I’m not saying it wasn’t a good movie. It was decent enough. I just spent far more time being bored than frightened. And I totally get the whole: Leave-It-To-Their-Imagination route with scary movies. But in order for that to work, a reasonable amount of suspense and tension must be built up. And this just didn’t do it for me.
